Poor Eugene has been with us since August of 2023. When he first came to us, he was suffering from skin irritation. After some testing, we found out he was allergic to a lot of things in his food. He spent several months in an absolutely wonderful foster home who helped him live his best life and get him on a healthy diet which has helped his skin feel better and allow him to show off his personality! Things to know about Eugene include that he is: - Estimated to be around 3 years old - Weighs about 50 pounds - Is housebroken - Is crate trained, but also completely respectful and non-destructive when left out of his crate - Prefer a kitty-free home - Can be picky about his dog friends. He did well in his foster home with submissive/chill dogs, but has struggled with meeting others, and may prefer to be the only dog in the home - Can be sassy and chatty when he wants something - Is so sweet and cuddly! Eugene is back at the shelter, and while he is getting lots of love from staff and volunteers, and is so well behaved and a fantastic co-pilot for car rides when he goes on dog dates, we know this mellow guy would love to be back in a foster home or finally finding his forever family! Thanks to a generous donor Eugene's adoption fee has been sponsored for a family that is the right fit! Eugene is current on shots, licensed, and microchipped. All dogs over 6 months have been heartworm tested, and all dogs are treated monthly for fleas/ticks and are on Heartworm prevention (NexGard PLUS). All pets are spayed/neutered prior to a finalized adoption. All our dogs receive a behavior assessment before being placed for adoption to determine initial behaviors towards people and other dogs in the shelter environment.
