My Story
Hello, my name is Etta, and I'm a special girl, looking for a special home. You see, I was once in a home with 16 other dogs. I was scared of going outside there, and there was a lot of chaos living with so many dogs. We didn't live like "normal" dogs; we didn't eat out of bowls or have our own dog beds, or toys, or anything like that. It's been 6 months since I left that place, and I'm still learning what it means to be a dog that lives in a home where dogs get treats and toys. I still don't understand toys, but treats...well, I really like treats! My foster mom realized that bowls scare me a bit, so she feeds me on a frisbee. I like that she understands I need to take things slow. When I first came here, she put me on a slip lead to take me outside. I don't really understand what a leash is, so initially she had to carry me out and I fought the leash, but I liked that she walked outside with me. After a couple weeks, I felt more confident, and started following the foster's dog outside and I've become much more confident about going outside now. I love having a dog friend and really follow the other dog's lead, so having another dog in my next home is a must (and a playful one would be great, because my current friend doesn't really know how to play all that well, and I want to run and chase in the backyard). There are also cats in my foster home, and I think they are fine. I don't really understand them, but we get along just fine, and they like to try to snuggle with me sometimes, which is nice. I'm still unsure about humans, but I like attention, and getting brushed. My foster has seen me becoming more and more happy as the days have gone by, but it's going to take a patient person to earn my trust. Maybe you will be that person for me?
