My Story

Ernie was brought into the shelter January 2005 at approx. 1 1/2 - 2 years of age. In these pictures taken December 9, 2006, he is now 3 1/2 - 4 years old. Poor Ernie has spent almost 2 years at the shelter. He IS STARVING for attention. Every time a volunteer cleans his kennel he is right there next to the volunteer giving kisses, trying to get on his/her lap, and doing anything possible to get the volunteer to notice him so that he can get some love. Sadly, because there is so much to do with so few volunteers, Ernie only gets a quick pat on the head and gets in a few kisses before the volunteer goes on his/her way. Ernie is a very sweet and gentle boy who so loves being a lap dog. He does well with other dogs, however, if there is wet food or treats, he will growl. Ernie does need a home with a privacy fence as he can climb over a chain link.

We had a group of 8 year old girls come to the shelter one Saturday and one of them walked Ernie. He did so well and greatly enjoyed the attention the little girl gave him. He also loved the treats.

February 18, 2007 - UPDATE: Ernie went with the LP volunteers to the Mardi Gras Pawty. He was so great and greeted everyone who came to our table. Ernie enjoyed all of the attention he got from the babies to seniors. He did sometimes growl at other dogs but it was only certain ones.

March 17, 2007 - UDPATE: A Girl Scout from Bentonville Troop 43 and Ernie go for a run. Ernie was one of the lucky pups picked to run and romp in the field. He so enjoyed all of the attention.
