My Story

Emma is a 1/2 Great Pyrenees 1/2 Anatolian Shepherd. Until Emma was picked up from her home and taken to rescue she had nothing in life. Her mother was given away for free to a home that did not care for her. Not surprisingly Emma’s mother had not been spayed so she had puppies with a Great Pyrenees who live in the same yard. Sadly the father has since died from neglect. Only Emma and 2 of her sisters survived, and the rest of the litter soon died of neglect. Emma and her two sisters are now 15 months old. They are a little shy because until they were taken in by a rescuer they have never left their back yard. Emma had never been to the vet, and had never met a person other than her ‘owner’ who only showed up briefly to throw some food out for them to eat. The young pups were living a life of social deprivation through no fault of their own, and eventually became suspicious and fearful of people and other dogs. Eventually someone learned of the girls and their plight and negotiated with the owner to take them away. It was a difficult rescue, because the girls was fearful and scared as they were dragged from the only place they had known and put into crates and driven away. No time was lost in getting them to a vet for a complete evaluation. They have been spayed, given all their vaccinations including rabies, dewormed, and heartworm checked (all negative!) All Emma and her sisters need now is some one to love them and show them how to live a good life. Emma’s mother was just as little shy as her pups, but she was soon adopted. She has already learned to trust and love her new family, and is doing well. After all they have been through Emma and her sisters deserve to have a good home and a family to love and protect. Most dogs who have been abused or neglected become very attached and bonded to a new home once they learn they are safe and loved. These girls deserve a chance. Emma and her sisters will not be attending the DogsOnly adoption showings at Petco on Chenal until a later date. We will update this bio when the girls start attending adoption showings. Their adoption fee is $125 and covers all necessary vet care to include: spay or neuter (mandatory - no exceptions), rabies, microchipping and registration, all vaccinations (including all puppy shots, rabies, adult boosters and Bordatella), grooming, Frontline for flea/tick preventative, heartworm check if age appropriate and preventative, collar and 50% of basic training classes. To learn more about Emma and her sisters you can send an email to [email protected] or complete an online adoption application by clicking the orange colored text links at the top or bottom of their official bio page located at www.dogsonly.org/443pop.html. All of our young and adult dogs require a 2 week home visit before finalizing the adoption process. This is to help ensure it is a good match for all involved without making a final commitment. Puppies are not available to go on home visits. All of our rescues are in private homes and not available to be visited outside of showing times. All of our foster homes work with our rescues to ensure they are crate trained and most are also housetrained. None of our foster homes have cats, so we can only make our best guess as to how our rescues would do with cats. We rescue from high kill shelters and once accepted into our program, none of our rescues are euthanized. We provide for all their vet care, socialization and training until an appropriate home can be found. We rely solely on donations and are a 501(c)3 Humane Society. The only support we receive is from donations from the general public. Thank you for your interest in rescue and in saving the life of a dog. Every day in the United States, 11,000 dogs are euthanized. Why Buy When You Can Save?
