Elmer is a “red” Irish Setter, Spaniel and Retriever mix, about a year old and 50 lbs, medium sized adult dog. Showed up at rescuer’s home with a choke chain wrapped around one shoulder and his neck, and a head injury; later determined Elmer had been shot. Despite this trauma, rescuer/foster person says Elmer is an all-around good pup. He is excited, enthusiastic, playful, but obeys commands. His eyesight and behavior are very sharp. He is housetrained. Like many dogs, he does seem to like to “chase.” Unknown how he is with cats, but he loves playing with resident dogs. Non-life threatening bullet is to be removed and he will be neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. References, home check and adoption fee apply.
