Elijah Blue~Adopte

Eli is an AKC-registered bloodhound in need of a fabulous indoor home. He started life destined for the show ring--he is from a champion line of show bloodhounds. His original owner actually paid $2000 for him before he was born. When Eli was 8 months old, he was diagnosed with a genetic bone disorder that made him unsuitable for breeding and showing. He was neutered, and happily settled into life as a pet. Unfortunately, his doggie brother, who was a show dog and a breeder stud, did not like Eli and began to beat up on him. Eli's owner placed a "free to good home" ad in the local newspaper. Eli came to live with his foster mom, and has adjusted to living with other assorted dogs and the occasional cat. Eli, like all bloodhounds, drools (A LOT!!) and is rather clumsy. He is very large, even for a bloodhound--he is about 30 inches at the shoulder and weighs about 125 lbs. His eyes and ears require special attentio n--they need to be cleaned once a day to prevent problems. Eli is a hound, has a "houndy" smell that is a part of having a hound friend. He is fully vetted and microchipped. He is 2 years old, and should live a long and healthy life. He is used to being indoors, and is housetrained to a dog door. He sleeps in a crate at night, and will sometimes go to his crate for a nap during the day. He walks well on a leash, although his foster mom says that directing Eli is somewhat like maneurvering a semi truck or a bus. He is a very lovable guy that would make a great companion to a person or another dog. He is completely vetted and his adoption fee helps to reimburse for the vetcare provided.
