Edgar is one of the most adorable fellows we’ve ever met! He’s only 11 months old and he’s big, cute as can be and oh so lovable. In addition to being a Golden Retriever (the best breed in the world!) he is also part Italian Spinone. An internet search reveals that the Italian Spinone is loyal, friendly and alert and they make great companions and assistance dogs.
Edgar’s foster mom is already smitten with him. "When you look at his face, you just have to smile or laugh because he is so adorable with his facial hair and his goatee, and he has beautiful teeth. He has a shorter coat on the rest of him. His favorite thing is his imaginary Golden friend in the mirror. He will sit there and look at himself forever. When he looks in the vanity mirrors (3 of them) he sees 3 imaginary friends and moves his head to check them all out.
"He is completely house broken, but still learning house manners (like not running off with hats, shoes, etc.). No matter where I go, he follows. He trips over his own feet or yours just trying to stay close. He gets along great with all 7 dogs here and they play like crazy in the back yard. At dinner time Edgar knows where his spot is and never attempts to steal anyone else’s food if they are not done yet. Although he’s tall, he’s still a puppy at heart. We’re working on his basic commands and he’s learning quickly. He loves fetching balls but doesn’t get the idea of bringing them back to you and would rather just walk around with one in his mouth. He’s been doing great on leash during our daily walks. Edgar is always on the move and will do best with an active family. With a bit of training, he will make someone a really wonderful companion."
What a lovable, sweet character Edgar is!
