My Story

If you are interested in any of the dogs available at New Leash Rescue, you can reach out to the foster listed below for more information and then complete an adoption application which can be found at https://www.newleashrescue.org/adopt/policy. Please email the completed application to [email protected] Eddie came from a reservation in tough shape. He healed up from some pretty bad mange and he looks great now. Eddie is around 7-9 years old estimated and he's 45-50 pounds. Eddie's teeth are in tough shape - with most worn down and damaged - likely from a life of trying to chew on a chain or kennel. Eddie is going to require a family who is willing to do twice a year dentals to make sure his mouth stays in as best condition as possible. Eddie likes to play with other dogs a little bit. Once Eddie is in play mode with the dogs, he be mouthy at times with human arms and hands but he's pretty gentle. He is not recommended with kids under age 5, if that may be bothersome to them or their parents. He is working on house training and crate training and doing well at going outside in a fenced in yard. Eddie will need to be crated if his family is leaving for any longer period or he will have an accident in the house. He will do better with someone home more often for regular potty breaks. Eddie's main energy comes when he sees a squirrel and wants to chase after them. He has some prey drive so not recommended with cats or other small animals. Eddie hasn't had the best life until he came to rescue. His adopters have the chance to show him his best life. Eddie has had a few dental cleanings while in rescue. He's been neutered, core vaccines updated, as well as bloodwork, fecal testing, heartworm testing, dewormer, microchipping, and preventatives. Adoption fee is $400.00 + tax (no checks) Email to contact with questions: [email protected] Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.
