Dusa would make a great family dog and a companion for someone who is active – she is strong, healthy, and athletic. If you like running, hiking, camping or just taking long walks, Dusa would be the perfect buddy!
Dusa is completely house trained and crate-trained, walks on a leash, won’t tear up your sofa or shoes, and loves to just relax with her humans. In fact, she is lying on the cool tile floor in the office while I am writing this.
Perhaps my favorite thing about Dusa is that she never strays – she is outside a lot where it isn’t fenced (I even leave the door open), and she never, ever wanders.
I did some research on Belgian Malinois and this is what I discovered:
The Belgian Malinois is a very-fast-learning, highly-trainable, high-energy, versatile working dog. They can make great pets for highly-active, high-energy families. Because of this breed's trainability and intelligence, Belgian Malinois are often used today as police dogs, military dogs, and homeland security dogs. Domestic Belgian Malinois excel at obedience, agility, flyball, Frisbee, herding, sledding, and tracking. They enjoy hiking, running, and biking, and make good jogging partners. The Malinois is very loving toward his family and reserved toward strangers. They are naturally protective of their owners without being aggressive. They make good watchdogs as they are incredibly alert and will notice sights, sounds, and smells that you don't. The Malinois is extremely sensitive and social, and will want to be part of your family.
Of course, Dusa’s adoption covers her spay, all of her shots including rabies, and worm meds and flea meds as required. She is a perfectly healthy, happy girl!
I am also a firm believer in allowing potential adopters to have a “sleepover” with the dog so you can see how she adapts in your own home, your other pets, and with your family.
