My Story

Duke has found his forever home with Maggie and Bruce in Raymond, ME

Duke is one of those very special dogs with a beautiful disposition. He is a 70 pound Chesapeake Bay Retriever and is approximately 2-3 years old. He is not only loving and sweet to all people, dogs and cats but is also extremely bright. He is just about house trained (no accidents yet in the house) . However, he was diagnosed with heartworm but should fully recover as he is an excellent candidate for HW treatment . He is also missing a front tooth which we think is from being hit in the mouth with something. It's hard to believe that someone gave this beautiful boy up. He is truly an awesome, awesome dog and will complete your family. He is currently being fostered in TN. We thank everyone so much for the donations for his treatment. Special thank you to the Marcus family and the Baron family and to Heather K. And a very special thank as well to Harry M. and his friends. Harry decided for his 8th birthday to donate to help a rescue dog instead of getting gifts from his friends. Duke will now be able to get his heartworm treatment. Duke sends happy doggie kisses to everyone who helped him.

Duke should be able to travel north sometime in Feb or March, once his heartworm test turns negative.

Please complete an online APPLICATION if you wish to adopt. Forever Home Rescue New England is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
We are a network of foster homes in the South and the New England area. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC SHELTER LOCATION. If you wish to meet our dogs, you must first be approved by going through our application and screening process.

Forever Home Rescue suggests obedience training for all puppies and dogs. All dogs are up to date on their shots, dewormed and spayed or neutered. Vet fees, transport fee and New England quarantine fees ARE INCLUDED in each dog's adoption fee. Also, any dogs older than pups--even if they are not marked housetrained in their posting---usually housetrain within a day or two, because most are used to living outside in the south and will prefer to "do their business" outdoors. If you are approved to adopt, please submit the $100 deposit by clicking on the Paypal button below. STOP! If you have not been notified of your approval status do not make a deposit.
