Duke the 3 year old, blue merle Great Dane is the latest Duke to come to a foster castle with Big Dogs Huge Paws! Many Duke's come through our castles and they are all worthy members of royalty or some of them may be more like the Dukes of Hazzard! Either way they are in good hands with the castle staff here. This Duke has had the finest nobleman training in house, crate and leash training and has the customary manners to sit, stay and shake hands. He will not tolerate cats in his kingdom, is very protective of children he has lived with and needs slow introductions to other dogs - males in particular. Slow introductions have proven to be essential to the success of introducing a new dog into their new home when other dogs are already members of the family. Duke's foster family will be working on his mastery of living with other dogs and updates will be provided. There are many great resources on facilitating proper introductions that we will provide to adopters and we find that returns, or dog to dog issues, are almost always the result of neglecting to follow the “slow Intro process”.
