Hi there! My name is Ducky, I'm a male, 30lb, Husky-Shepherd mix. My foster family thinks I'm going to grow to be a big boy!
I can be a bit shy and am still learning humans are not all that bad. My foster mom is working with me on trusting humans. But of course, it all takes time. When I warm up to my fosters, I will give them a sniff or lick but still learning they are here to love on me. It's a work in progress. It helps when my foster dad lays down on the ground and lets me come to him so that he isn't so tall and scary. I lay next to him until I am sure he isn't a monster and then I creep up to him slowly but still with enough space to figure things out. I do like my crate for it is a safe place for me.
I absolutely love to be outdoors, but DEFINITELY need a fenced in backyard as I don't necessarily come very easily. I am learning to come with some coaxing and following my foster siblings helps. I have two bigger sisters that I like to play with, and they are teaching me how to be a dog. There are 2 cats that live here too; I really don't mind them. I want to play with them at times but for the most part I ignore them more than they ignore me.
I am very proud that I am almost potty trained! I whimper/bark to go outside when I really need to go out. My foster siblings are teaching me to ring a bell.
My foster mom got me a slip proof puppy harness so that I can't be an escape artist while on my leash. The leash is still scary for me so my foster mom is helping me take it slow.
I am hesitant being introduced to new dogs. I will let them know I don't like to be approached right away. I need time to warm up to them and know that they will be my friend.
