My Story

Meet our local celebrity, Dora the Explorer! If this girl could only talk and tell her story it would go something like this....my life for over 1 year has been traveling from town to town, traveling hundreds of miles, while wearing a harness that someone put on me when I was only about 1 year old. My family did love me at one time and took a lot of time with me because I know several commands. I am a super smart girl, but I am the only one who knows why and how I ended up on my own for so long. Thank goodness Good Samaritans provided me food and water along my journey; however, I was always too frightened to allow anyone to get too close to me. I could cover a lot of ground in short periods of time which kept my rescuers very busy trying to keep up with me. They had to reach out to the public for assistance, so they created my very own Facebook page called "Finding Dora. I have way over one thousand followers and my page keeps growing. My story of survival while traveling very busy interstates, bypasses, city streets and country roads captivated so many people. I soon became everyone's dog! Through my page, my rescuers were able to receive sightings of me, while I traveled Jackson, Tn. for 5 weeks. Finally, on August the 12th 2023 my rescuers finally succeeded and trapped me after several hard weeks in Jackson. My fan club members are now so excited to see how well and quickly I have decompressed after capture. Please go to my page "Finding Dora and join it to see just how much I am loved!! Also I have been featured on several local TV stations, as well as, several newspapers. My story has brought so many people together and many new friendships have been made. Also, due to the monitory support I have received, I will help assist my rescue family by spaying or neutering at least 40 dogs and cats in my area. You see... I am actually considered a HERO! Dora is around 2 years old and she weighs 53 lbs. She is house trained, crate trained, she knows many commands like sit, shake, lay down and rollover. She amazes her foster family daily with the fact that she remembers so much of what she was taught when she was basically a year old pup. She loves to play in water, especially with the water hose and loves a game of tug a war. She loves peanut butter, hot dogs and milk-bone dog biscuits. Dora can be a little shy when meeting someone new, but warms up super fast. Her foster family has several older dogs and Dora seems fine with them, however, Dora would do great as well, as a single dog family because she loves her people! Remember to go find her page, join and read! There are also videos of her on her page. Dora is ready to travel when the perfect home is found for her.
