My Story

Can't adopt but want to help? Please contact [email protected] to find out about sponsorship, fostering, and other ways you can help this animal! Please note that financial sponsorship will be applied to the specific animal you indicate unless it is not needed, at which time we will let you designate it for another HT animal of your choice.

Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters, so that they have more time to find a permanent family. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please click here and email the questionnaire to [email protected].

NOTE: Applications for Dixie's pups will not be considered until AFTER 12/27 due to the high volume of other puppies already in our system. So feel free to apply for them but note that you will hear back AFTER 12/27.

Dixie's pups (6 boys and 4 girls) were left at a rural shelter along with their mom when their owner became very ill with cancer. Poor Dixie was terrified, but luckily she and her pups are now safe. Dixie is a 15 lb girl of an unknown breed...maybe a Dachshund or Border Collie mix? See her photo above as she too is available for adoption (she is the adult black/white dog photo). Dixie's pups seem to definitely have some Australian Shepherd in them based on their markings, size and fur. They are 6 weeks old this week (12/15) and will be ready for adoption after 12/30. We estimate that they will be medium sized pups in the 40-50 lb range....but again, their mom is only 15 lbs...so without knowing who the dad is, we are guessing.

They will have their first shots and de-worming prior to adoption.

Their adoption fee is $150.

If you would like to fill out an adoption questionnaire for this dog, please click here and e-mail the questionnaire to [email protected]. ***Note they will not be viewed until after 12/27.

Thank you for contacting Homeward Trails Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!
