My Story

ADOPTED! - Dixie is a purebred standard size Dachshund and she is quite the character! She is about 1 year old and she weighs 23 pounds. Dixie is a comical little dog with a great outlook on life, and she is just full of love for everyone. Actually, we think she is pretty darned close to being the perfect dog! She gets along well with other dogs and cats, she is a quiet, well-behaved, and she has been spayed, heartworm tested, microchipped, immunized, and wormed. All Dixie asks for is a family to spend her days with, a doggie "brother" or "sister", and a safely fenced yard in which to run and play (no invisible fencing please). We would like Dixie to be adopted by someone who works part time, works at home, or is retired--so that she won't have to be a latchkey dog. She loves kids, but--because of her physique--we would prefer she not be adopted by a family with young children for fear she would be tripped over or inadvertently injured. Her adoption fee is $250. If you are interested in learning more about Dixie, please write and tell us a little about yourself and your family situation and your lifestyle. If we feel Dixie would be a good fit for you--and vice versa--we will send you an adoption application. Our e-mail address is: [email protected]
SOME FOLKS THINK WE ARE TOO FUSSY ABOUT OUR ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS. BUT, JUST AS YOU--AS A POTENTIAL ADOPTER--HAVE A SPECIFIC IDEA IN MIND OF THE BREED AND AGE AND SIZE AND HAIR COAT AND PERSONALITY OF THE DOG YOU HOPE TO ADOPT, WE--TOO--HAVE A SPECIFIC IDEA IN MIND OF WHAT KIND OF HOME SITUATION WOULD BE BEST FOR EACH OF OUR DOGS. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT IN OUR MINDS, AN ADOPTION IS JUST THAT--AN ADOPTION. IT IS NOT A "PURCHASE". SO WE--AS THE CARETAKERS OF THESE PRECIOUS BEINGS--RESERVE THE RIGHT TO WAIT FOR JUST THE RIGHT HOME TO COME ALONG.
Please click on "One Starfish Rehoming Connections" under the photo to read more about our rescue's adoption policies and fees. We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Please read the information on our home page (by clicking on our rescue name below this dog's photo) before contacting us.
