Dipper

Hi! My name is Dipper! Born on January 20, 2022, I’m a male German Shepherd mix weighing around 50 lbs. I am without a doubt the happiest, sweetest, most loving pup you’ll ever meet! I was hit by a car at a very young age and abandoned on a rainy day on the side of the road in Mexico when The Cantu Foundation found me. The rescue worker took me to the vet and, unfortunately, I had to have a back leg amputated because it was beyond saving. After my amputation, I survived distemper and learned how to walk and run again on my three legs. I’m not letting my handicap affect my day-to-day life! I’m already neutered and fully vaccinated. I do not need a crate, but I am fully potty trained. I’m also doing well with leash training, and I love going on walks and adventures! My foster parents will tell you that I love to snuggle and I will nuzzle you with my nose for extra pats. I’m excellent with kids, dogs (with proper introduction), and tortoises! I’m not sure about cats because I haven’t met any. They say I’m highly intelligent, I have grit and I’m the definition of growth mindset. I am adaptable and I don’t let three legs slow me down. I’m always up for an adventure but I also enjoy a chill, snuggly kind of day. I do whimper a little bit when you leave me but I’m OK being moderately independent. Overall, my foster parents would describe me as loving, curious and happy! I would do well in a single-story home with minimal step ups or downs to get into. I’d prefer not much slippery surfaces, but I am learning and working on my skills. I would love some room to play and maybe with another dog or kids.
