My Story
ABOUT DIOR
Dior is a 2 year old terrier mix that loves her friends! Dior came to HAP in January, when she was found wandering as a stray in Wilmington. We were able to find her owner, but, sadly, they never came to reclaim her. Dior is confused to be here, but she is always sweet with our staff and volunteers. Dior is not a huge fan of other dogs, which has made the shelter environment extra stressful for her. She has been overlooked by adopters for her kennel presence, often seen barking or jumping. However, once she is out of her kennel and away from all the noise, she melts into an affectionate and goofy girl.
Dior recently spent the day outside of the shelter, through HAP's Doggy Day Out program, where her true personality shined! Dior enjoys car rides and sprawling out in the backseat. She LOVED having a fenced yard to run around and get her zoomies out. Whether she is playing tug with you or tossing toys around on her own, she is super playful! After some exercise, she can be found leaning into the nearest person to soak up some love. She made a visit to our friends at Riverfront Pets to pick out a toy and some snacks, before heading back to the shelter. By the end of the day, Dior was snoozing away in her kennel, happy to have had such a fun and relaxing day!
While Dior is seeking a home without other pets, she has previously lived with children and did well! She would likely do best with dog-savvy kids, as she has an energetic, silly playstyle!
**Dior would need to be the only pet in your home.
If you are interested in adopting Dior, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
