My Story

adopted 6-17-5 to kincardine, 1 more pic available but it will not load to the site - serious enquirers can ask to have it emailed - Liver and white, small version - thought to be the field version, 41.8 lbs, ckc reg'd, exact birthdate is April 5, 2002 and his CKC # is MG796877, microchipped, Tattoo KKW 10M , originally of Hagginwood Kennels, purebred, male, springer spaniel, picked up from pound 4-28-5, he is improving a lot - likes to play with the other dogs now, only fearful of being leashed, for the reason we woudl prefer a fenced yard, as he is very scared of the leash and is not easy to catch, nor 100% ready for being exposed to whatever he could get himself into with that much freedom, he has met kids on many ocassions and has been fine - WE DO NOT KNOW ABOUT CATS -the 1st weekend we got him we did see him being defensive when being leashed, and when he was to go for neuter and was put in a car with another dog he knew, and was to go with a volunteer driver he did not know, and he has also done the same thing, when another female dog he came home with, was approached - we feel he was used as a stud dog and is territorial about his "dogs" - he can now go out and play with almost all the other dogs except those that are also territotial males to the females, so we ask he not go to a home with kids to avoid any issues with him - it is obvious he has been abused, I also saw him drop to the floor when he thought something was up and he refused to go past me into his dog run. We do know he was left tied to a street post, and owner left him at pound, on 5-3-5 a person queired about him at the pound he was in and they told vet staff he will kill chickens - noone knows who this person was, he has been neutered, vaccinated & boostered and dewormed May 18th with Drontal Plus as well as treated with Revolution for prevention of fleas, ticks and earmites , (PLEASE DO NOT INQUIRE UNLESS YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING THIS DOG FOR YOURSELF- THIS MEANS NO MORE BREEDERS CALLING AND/OR EMAILING ME PLEASE - WE CAN PLACE THIS DOG -LIKE ALL OTHERS that we have had to that were WITHOUT CKC AND REG'N - BY OURSELVES- WE JUST NEED TIME WITH HIM TO DETERMINE WHO IS BEST FOR HIM FROM THE APPLICANTS - AND YES - IS NEUTERED NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) his adoption fee is $225 (with 1st & 2nd shots), comes with 1 month free pet insurance, transitional food, if being adopted locally - they come with a pet rescue id tag, PLUS - On Golden Paws K-9 Education Centre is graciously offfering local adoptive families ONE basic obedience 6 week program "FREE" to all dogs adopted from Pet Rescue. (with proper proof adoption from Pet Rescue), to apply please fill out a dog application off of the adoption page of the site at www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca, (a side view profile is available to serious applicants),*Selecting an animal for adoption is best done in person because their true personality is not conveyed well in a photo. This is why we require the application to be filled out in full, so we can determine if there is any reason you may not suit this pet or vice versa - this will save yourself and the animal the heartaches. Realize that adding a new pet to the family is a serious commitment that requires a great deal of thought. We want to ensure that when you take them home you understand and fulfill your commitment to care for them – for life. It is important that our adoptable pets succeed in their new placements because it is psychologically debilitating for the animals to be continuously rejected (returned). Do your homework, and please don’t act on impulse! We do not "hold" animals ...doing so might deprive them of a good home. If your application is accepted, you MUST make arrangements to visit our shelter within the dates, generally within a few days -1 week, as suggested by Kathi when your reviewed application is responded to. PLEASE APPLY ONLY AFTER THE ENTIRE FAMILY HAS AGREED ON MEETING THIS SPECIFIC DOG TO SEE IF IT IS SUITABLE FOR YOUR HOME AND AFTER IT HAS BEEN DECIDED WHICH CIRCUMSTANCES COULD DEVELOP ON YOUR END WHICH WOULD MAKE YOU CONSIDER GIVING THE DOG UP (AND STATE THAT ON YOUR APP) SO WE CAN DETERMINE IF IT IS LIKELY THESE CIRCUMSTANCES COULD ARISE - IF YOU APPLY AND ARE CHOSEN AS A SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT TO MEET THE DOG THIS LIKELY MEANS - WE ARE TURNING OTHER APPS DOWN - SO IF YOU LATER DECIDE AGAINST MEETING THE DOG BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT READY, OR YOU DECIDE THE DOG IS TOO BIG, ETC OR HAVE CIRCUMSTANCES ARISE , THEN YOU ARE DENYING THIS DOG GETTING INTO ITS NEW COMPATIBLE HOME IN A TIMELY FASHION AND YOU MAY BE COSTING OTHER DOGS THEIR LIVES IF WE ARE FULL AND CANNOT TAKE THEM IN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, Please do not apply, if: 1) You are expecting to adopt an animal in less then 24 hours, 2) You are not willing to complete the adoption application IN FULL (this is how we assess if a viewing is scheduled), 3) You do not want drive to this area for a viewing and/or adoption (the dogs are in foster homes or our shelter, so I drive somewhere to meet you as well, and when you stand me up you are not only forcing the animals to be delayed in being adopted to decent permanent homes, but also wasting my and their time, and our money by having us spend time and long distance charges online processing your application and driving somewhere, all for nothing) 4) If you have multiple applications out as it is very unfair to waste the animal’s and volunteer’s time by applying and promising to come and then canceling or no showing at the last minute because you got a animal “CLOSER” to where you live - there is a map on our home page so consider the drive before you apply – WE APPRECIATE YOU LETTING US PUT OUR TIME AND SPARSE RESOURCES TO THEIR BEST USE If you are willing to follow our adoption procedure, please apply at the adoption page by completing the application online at www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca - please fill this out before calling us – as I have very little time to return phone calls, but can return emails at any time of the day, IT IS UNFORTUNATE WE HAVE TO POST SO MANY RULES BUT THEY ARE ALL BASED ON EXPERIENCES WE ENCOUNTER EACH WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
