My Story

Diego is a beautiful black lab with a short tail who is about 10 months old. He is great with dogs of all sizes, with cats, and with people. He is playful but not high energy. He barks when there's a reason to alert but not a incessant barker for no reason. He is friendly with everyone he meets. He goes to the door to let me know he has to potty so he should be able to quickly learn where to signal that he has to potty in a new home. He doesn't love being picked up to be put into a crate, but he enjoys being in the crate when it's time to rest and he will go in with just a slight direction with my hand 'pushing' him towards it. He has never shown any aggression, or even much interest really, towards the cats. He sleeps peacefully among them. He plays in the play yard with all kinds of dogs with no issues. He loves water and he also does really well on walks around the property and follows me like a pro without a leash. He responds to his name and comes when called and if I can't see him because he's in the water or exploring the woods, he will come when I use a standard dog whistle so he is trained to come to that as well. Diego found himself on the kill list the shelter in Tulsa simply for being there too long. Black dogs often get overlooked by adopters because they are 'boring' looking and it's hard to know their personality in a shelter environment. Diego is a great pup that is easy-going and low-maintenance. ' He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue/reviews Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Seattle/Tacoma) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Illinois (Vandalia) - Indiana (Spiceland) - Ohio (Columbus) - Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) Vetting: neutered, heartworm tested (negative), on monthly heartworm prevention, rabies vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, bordetella vaccine, dewormed several times, microchipped, on monthly flea and tick prevention.
