My Story

Updated 4/2/07 Hi, my name is Diamond and I am a real lucky little girl. I don't know why I was abandoned at a baseball field, but I waited for my original owners to come back for me for almost 6 months. I never gave up hope, but I am so small and I was alone and cold and scared for so long that I stopped trusting people. It took almost two weeks for my new foster mom and other SAFE Animal Haven members to catch me. I don't know why I ran so hard now because now I am so happy and love living with the 7 other dogs in my foster home. I am a small 15 pound Chihuahua mix and am about a year old. I am house trained and love other dogs and children although I am sometimes a little shy at first. I have had all of my shots, and have been wormed and spayed. My vet said that I do not have heartworms and I will continue to gain weight and fill out with continued love and care. My pelvis and back leg are both broken due to my having been hit by a car. Because I never got any medical care until now, my bones have grown together kind of crooked, but that doesn’t slow me down or keep me from doing the things that most dogs do. I just have a little “hitch in my get-along!” My foster mom says nobody is perfect and not to worry about it. I will need a fenced in yard that I can run in, but not squeeze out of. I love walking on leash and swimming in the creek near my foster home. One of my favorite things to do is to lay in my bed under my foster mom’s desk while she works on her computer. I could be a great “take your dog to work” dog, but I would love to go every day! I don't know what I did that was so bad to make someone abandon me. Maybe it was just not being a puppy any more. All I know is I just want my very own forever home. I don't ever want to be alone again. S.A.F.E.
