Dexter was rescued from the LaPorte Pound. The animal control officer there insisted that his owners turn in his father (Murphy), his brother (Tyson), and him for neglect. They were being left outside and were not being fed. Murphy and Tyson are now in wonderful forever homes and doing well. Unfortunately, Dexter’s foster mom was hit hard by Hurricane Ike, and so we are currently boarding Dexter at our vet. I know he would love to be back in a home so he can blossom like his dad and brother!
Dexter is super, super laid back and has the sweetest soul. He is smaller (around 35 pounds) and is the cutest little guy you have ever seen. I mean, look at these pictures! He is also a big cuddly lap dog!
Dexter is a golden retriever/setter/pointer mix of some sort. He is around 1 year old. He is great with other dogs and loves kids. In fact, he loved to kiss his former foster parent’s little boy and get petted.
Dexter would make anyone a fabulous companion. He is crate trained and is mostly house trained, although as with most rescues, he may need a little refresher in the house training area.
Dexter is up to date on his vaccinations, is microchipped, and is neutered.
