His owner lost her home, had to move in with inlaws & could not take Deuce with her. This poor guy is just scared to death in the shelter.....he has lived with his owner his entire life, and the owner was likely the dog's ENTIRE LIFE...it was so very very sad when she left him there.
The shelter environment frightens him - the first 3 days he did nothing but sit & shake in his kennel, barking away those who tried to comfort him. As the days went on the shelter director spent much time with him to figure out if he was a concern or just reacting to the environment. It took some slow patient coaxing but he warmed up to her (he bonds tightly and will allow her to do anything to him).
He does very well on a leash & loves to play ball, will sit, shake, & other hand on command. Reading his profile from his previous owner we get the feeling he spent very little time outside...spending all his hours with his owner...she indicated he is 'very loving, calm & obedient' he is housetrained, was left alone in the house w/out supervision, slept on the couch or in their bed, loves riding in the car, is afraid of bikes, thunderstorms & linoleum (we have not seen an issue with the linoleum here), lived with children 7-12 years, submissive & friendly toward other animals, no health problems, does not like to be hugged around the neck but love to be petted on his chest...(and he does...he'll just roller over & wait for the big rub).
