My Story

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to [email protected] with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team IN VPDate into Rescue: 01/27/2024 Reason for being in rescue: Surrendered by breeder Foster location: Foster Home in Raleigh, NC Special Needs? Dennis is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Dennis was born with bad knees and legs. It was identified during his final puppy exam before purchase, and the reason he was surrendered to rescue. In April 2024, Dennis had MPL surgery on his rear leg to provide corrective support as he grows. In June 2024, Dennis had PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy to help with his leg. Our veterinarians have noted that Dennis already has some arthritis in the rear leg. Dennis's future medical needs are unknown. He uses his rear leg 75% of the time; the other 25% he holds it up. It does not slow him down. Additional surgery may be required in the future. Dennis's adopter must undertand and be committed to this. Weight: 8.5 lbs and growing - we expect Dennis will be between 10-12 lbs when full grown Height: 9 in - we expect Dennis will be 12 in when full grown Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $1 Fence needed? No, but he would love one What kind of home would be best for me? Dennis is a young, happy, active puppy looking for a young, active home with another young, active dog. He has two speeds - full speed awake and playing, and asleep snuggled up on you. Dennis is not suited to apartment or townhome life that involves shared walls. He has a voice and is not afraid to use it. Dennis has a strong preference for someone home during the day. He wants to be where you are and with you as much as possible. He'd be a great pal to run errands with. Dennis loves people and other dogs. He has lived in foster with small and large dogs. He has also lived with cats. They are not his favorite, but he could live with cats that are good with small dogs. Dennis has lived with children over 7 and loves them. Our ideal home for Dennis is with a family that has children and another young, active dog. He will not be adopted to a home where he is the only dog. Puppies are always in need of a canine friend, they love to run and play with one another. Puppies are active, agile little babies, they need homes that are ready to tire them out both mentally and physically. What matters most to a puppy is a happy and excited owner ready to take on loving and training their new puppy! When raised around cats, with proper boundaries, puppies do very well. If you expect your puppy to get alone with your feline buddy, it's important to start socializing the puppy with the cat as soon as you can! Dennis has lived in foster with large and small dogs, cats and children over 7. What is my personality like? Dennis is happy, happy, happy! He absolutely loves to play and loves all things that are toys (or could be used as toys). He also loves sticks, leaves, doggy beds, rugs, real dog toys, squeaky toys and chew bones. Dennis is a bundle of poodle puppy joy! He wakes up happy and plays most of the day. He's good at entertaining himself. To meet Dennis is to fall in love with him! PUPPY POLICY: Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog. Our ideal puppy adopters are: -experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets -scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home -stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly - Dennis loves everyone and thinks everyone is his new best friend Other tips and tidbits: Dennis's birthday is 10/29/2023 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
