Delilah

Delilah is a very special 7 month old Cockapoo. Please read the whole description before applying, as she's a special girl who will need a special home. She is quite small at only 5 lbs, but unfortunately it's been health issues that have probably contributed to her size. She came to me at 4 mos old and was very thin and very weak. She would fall over and not even try to get back up. She wouldn't eat anything on her own, so I started syringe feeding her 4 times per day. She begin to gain weight and strength. For the past 2 mos she has been eating some on her own and and is down to just one syringe feeding per day. She's very picky about what she'll eat on her own though. She will sometimes eat really well and other days barely touch her food, but her syringe feedings are extra nutritious and so she does well with just one syringe feeding per day, but that could change again. She will need someone who is willing to make her food and keep trying new things because she'll eat something really well for a period of time and then completely quit and need something new. She seems to prefer homemade food with ground kibble (unless you're willing to really research and can make it with all she needs) to balance it out for her. She also had some physical issues as well. When brought to the vet they did a full blood work up on her and didn't find anything. She feels its mostly neurological. She has gained some strength through frequent walks and we just kept adding a little longer each night and watching her for signs of being done and then she'd go back into the sling, but she can now walk 1.2 miles with us. She can do short steps but can't do full size steps yet, may never be able to. But otherwise she really is the sweetest puppy ever. She loves attention, loves to play and snuggle with a calm and gentle doggie friend, and has an adorable personality. She loves going on walks and if it's a long walk getting to ride in the sling once she gets too tired to walk. So if you think you can offer her all she needs and deserves please apply.
