My Story

Arrival story: Darla was found walking on the expressway by a Waggin’ Tails volunteer on 5-29-08 and all attempts made to locate her owner were unsuccessful.

Approximate age: 4-5 years old and 75 lbs.

Personality: Darla has been in a temporary foster home since she came to us so her temporary foster mom knows a lot about her. Darla has a low to moderate energy level and will go with the flow.

Darla is a low maintenance dog with a soft temperament and a big heart-she is beautiful! Her pictures do not do her justice.

She is a big couch potato and loves to be hugged and given belly rubs. Darla currently lives with 6 other dogs of all sizes and two cats. One of the other foster dogs in the home has taken Darla under her wing and taught her how to romp, pull stuffing out of a toy and play tug of war. They are best buddies. Darla is good with the small dogs in the home and great with the cats!

Darla has never had an accident in the house, so it is assumed she is housebroken. Darla has shown no signs of food aggression or toy aggression in her foster home and listens well to her caretakers. She walks nice on a leash and rides well in a car. She is not destructive and is crate trained, although she is only crated in her foster home when her foster mom has to leave, and only because one of the foster mom’s own dogs isn’t good with female dogs and cannot be left unattended with Darla and the other female dogs.

Darla sleeps in the bedroom, and once in a while she has the softest little snore-her foster mom considers it a sleep aid and finds it more soothing than listening to the ocean!

Forever home: Darla will fit into many situations given her laid back personality. She should have a home with a fenced yard and a family willing to indulge her in hugs and belly rubs. Other dogs and cats are optional!

Contact:If you are interested in adoption, please download an adoption application from our website: http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.com/adoptionprocess.html All other questions can be sent to temporary foster mom, Lori, at: [email protected]

Pre-Adoption Application::

To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The Pre-Adoption Application can be downloaded from our website - http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to [email protected].

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175, $275 for small breed dogs or $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check
www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. With few exceptions, we show our adoptable animals on Saturdays from 12pm - 3pm at PetSmart in Northville (on Haggerty Rd between 6 and 7 mile) or PetSmart in Canton (the northwest corner of Ford Rd and Haggerty Rd). Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).

Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.

Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
