My Story
If you judge a book by its cover then you are in for one lucky adventure! Hello, my name is Darla and I, along with my sister and two brothers, were rescued by Waters Edge Great Dane Rescue (WEGDR). Not much is known about my previous life before WEGDR but my life since has been amazing; however, before I tell you about it let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I am a young, little over a year, Blue Fawn with gorgeous eyes. I love couches, blankets, pillows, etc. BUT I don’t destroy them. My foster mom believes that I am a little dog trapped in a large dog’s body because I can curl up into a tiny, tiny size to fit on the couch. Blankets and pillows are my go-to when I am a little nervous. I don’t destroy them, I suckle them. It calms me down. The Ophthalmologist said I am slightly vision impaired but that doesn’t stop me. I can climb stairs, slow pace until I get my footing, do zoomies in the backyard, find the water and food bowls, find my crate, pretty much whatever other dogs can do but just at a slower pace. Did I mention I am a mellow girl? I am also crate trained.
When I first arrived, I was a little shut down but that is expected but over time my foster mom and my foster brothers and sisters have shown me that the outside world isn’t so scary. At first, I didn’t like going outside unless my foster mom would go with me and I would stay right by her side but now, all she has to say is “Let’s go Dar Dar” and I am out the door. I do have a rags to riches story because of WEDGR.
I get along with dogs, cats, goats, chickens, sheep, pigs, and ducks. My foster mom lives on a farm, so she has exposed me to a wide range of animals. Could you be the ending chapter to my wonderful story?
