Dante

Dante spent the first 6 months of life chained in a yard. His leg was broken, the leg swelled, and yet the owner did nothing for days. Finally, he was dumped at an animal shelter to be put down. Luckily, the shelter workers saw something in him. They took him to a vet that splinted the leg, noting that the break was not new. The delay in treating his leg lead to the breaks not healing properly. He should have had surgery to stabilize the breaks, but this was a country vet. Dante spent months in a cast and developed pressure sores with breaks did not heal. He was treated for an infection as well. He has spent his entire life constrained, first by the chain and then by the injuries. He is just now starting to be able to walk around and play. He is desperate for affection, and melts when he receives loving attention. He has had a very rough life. Ultimately, a broken leg freed Dante from a life of cruelty. However, it has not been a cake walk.  Nonetheless, those days are gone. He is now thriving in his foster home. Curious about all things, he knows how lucky he is. This beautiful affectionate boy is going to get the life he deserves. He will be available after his leg heals. He is learning house manners after life on a chain and significant time kenneled as he healed. He loves people and other dogs. A house without very small children would be best due to his excitement as he learns how to be a regular dog. Now is the time to get your application in if you are interested in him.
