My Story

Saddle up and meet Cowboy Hank, the most adorable pup on this side of the Mississippi. At just 12 weeks old and weighing in at a whopping 12 pounds, this little buckaroo is ready to rustle up some love and laughter in his forever home. Every pup has an origin story, and this is his. Cowboy Hank, along with his sister Mollie Mae, were found abandoned on the streets. These two little bandits were in pretty rough shape, suffering from two different types of mange, full of worms, and skinnier than a tumbleweed. Thankfully, a kind soul discovered them and reached out to us for help. Now, after some much-needed TLC, Cowboy Hank is back on his paws and ready to find his 'pyrfect' family. While Hank’s ancestors were busy protecting sheep from wolves, Hank is more likely to protect your heart from loneliness. He's got the bravery of a seasoned sheriff and the fluffiness of a cotton candy cloud—quite the combination! With medium puppy energy, Cowboy Hank strikes the perfect balance between playful and cuddly. He’s up for a game of fetch or a lazy afternoon nap. And don't let his size fool you; he’s destined to grow into a majestic, gentle giant with paws the size of Texas! With medium puppy energy, Cowboy Hank strikes the perfect balance between playful and cuddly. He’s up for a romp with his favorite toys or a lazy afternoon nap that will make you jealous of his napping skills. Fetch might not be his game—he's more of a "you threw it, you fetch it" kind of guy—but he’ll happily entertain himself (and you) with his toys, putting on a one-pup show that could rival any comedy act. And when it comes to water, he’s more of a land lover—no swimmin’ for this cowboy! If you ever see him near water, you might catch him giving it the stink eye and slowly backing away. This little cowboy needs a hand getting into the car because he’s just a pup and too small to make the leap on his own. However, once he's in, he’ll play for a bit before settling down for a relaxing ride, often looking out the window with an expression that says he's contemplating the meaning of life (or maybe just wondering if there are snacks involved). He’s a budding adventurer who’d thrive with an active family ready to take him on hikes and new explorations, though he might need a boost over any logs or big rocks—his short legs aren't made for mountaineering! Hank’s still working on his leash skills, so he hasn’t been on many walks yet, but he’s eager to learn and loves the idea of exploring the great outdoors. Just be prepared for some zig-zagging and sudden stops as he figures out that the leash isn’t a chew toy or a snake out to get him. Cowboy Hank's social skills rival those of a seasoned politician shaking hands at a county fair. His friendly demeanor is so infectious that even the grumpiest old timer at the saloon can't resist cracking a smile when Hank waltzes in. When it comes to meeting other dogs, Hank starts off a bit like a tumbleweed in a high wind—hesitant and cautious. But give him a minute, and he's chasing his tail with the best of them, forming impromptu doggy posses faster than you can say "yeehaw!" Now, Hank hasn't exactly had a run-in with a feline critter yet, but judging by his laid-back attitude, we reckon he'd greet a cat with a tip of his cowboy hat and a polite "howdy." Who knows, maybe they'd end up sharing a sunbeam for an afternoon siesta. And when it comes to kids, well, let's just say Hank's got more patience than a cowboy at a slow cattle drive. He'll happily trot alongside them, playing cowboy and outlaw or rounding up imaginary cattle with the enthusiasm of a rookie ranch hand. When it comes to potty training, Cowboy Hank is a bit like a tumbleweed in the wind—sometimes he hits the mark, other times he's just wandering. But fear not, with a little patience and a whole lot of treats, he'll be wrangling bathroom breaks like a seasoned ranch hand in no time. As for kennel training, well, let's just say Cowboy Hank is still figuring out that a crate isn't the same as a bunkhouse. And when it comes to chew toys, Cowboy Hank knows the difference between his rope and your favorite boots—though he might sneak a nibble if he's feeling particularly rebellious. Just keep those squeaky toys handy, and he'll be too busy playing the day away to cause any trouble. But beware, this pup's got a voice that could startle a coyote at midnight, and he's not afraid to use it. Whether it's barking at the mailman or singing along to his favorite country tunes, Cowboy Hank believes every woof is justified—even if you might disagree. So, if you're ready to add a touch of frontier flair to your life, consider adopting Cowboy Hank. With his love for life, unwavering loyalty, and knack for entertaining, he'll turn your living space into the best little hoedown this side of the Mississippi. Just remember, adopting Cowboy Hank means signing up for a lifetime of adventures, laughs, and maybe even a few tall tales. So saddle up and mosey on down to the shelter today—Cowboy Hank is waiting to lasso your heart! ? ? Pickup Location: Hutchinson, KS ?
