ADOPTED! - My name is "Count Chocula" and I was rescued just in the nick of time from a pound down south. When I first arrived at my new foster home,
I was afraid to look people in the eyes (for fear that they would hurt me) and I was so scared that I just collapsed whenever someone put on my leash. My rescue family soon learned that my spirit wasn't broken, though. They treated me very gently and were kind to me and they were happy to see the sparkle in my eyes once I knew I was loved and safe, and that no one would hurt me.
My foster mom took me to the dog park where I learned to play with other dogs (which really helped me build up my confidence). And now I have come to believe that people can be really nice, and I even act silly sometimes!
I weigh about 55 lbs., I'm probably about two years old, and--while my foster mom's best guess is that I'm part Belgian Tervuren with maybe a touch of Husky--I have my own unique look. (I guess you could just call me a "designer dog"!) But, whatever mix of breeds I am, everyone at the dog park thinks I'm VERY handsome, and a lady at the park recently told my foster mom that whoever adopts me is going to be very lucky. (I took that as a compliment!)
I need to be adopted by someone who has another dog for me to play with (I now go to doggie day care, so I've learned to get along with lots of other dogs of various sizes, but I prefer to play and rough house with dogs that are close to my size). I also would like to have a large safely fenced yard (please no invisible fencing) and I don't want to be a latchkey dog, so an adopter who works just part time, is retired, or works out of his/her home would be the best fit for me.
I am extremely gentle, loving, smart, and trusting...but I'm still frightened of new things and situations that I'm not familiar with. For this reason, I need to be adopted by someone who is experienced with dogs like me--someone who understands my sensitive, somewhat shy personality and can help me continue to blossom and build my self-confidence. (I do like kids but--since they can sometimes be kind of loud and rambunctious--I'd probably do best in a home without small children.) I have been neutered, heartworm tested, immunized, wormed, and microchipped so my adoption fee of $275 is a good deal, don't you agree?
If you think you could provide the right home for me, please contact my foster mom at:
[email protected] and tell her a little bit about yourself, your daily schedule, your family, if you have other dogs and a fenced yard, etc. Then, if she feels we'd be a good fit for each other, she will send you an adoption application after which time we could meet each other.

We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Please read the information on our home page (by clicking on our rescue name above this dog's photo) before contacting us.
