Cotton

Cotton is approximately 1 - 1 1/2 years old in these pictures taken March 8, 2008. He was dumped over the shelter fence one night in February. Cotton is sweet and loving but is very skittish. He does OK on the leash if there are not many people around. Other wise he just cowers next to the person with the leash. Cotton loves to get attention from someone who talks softly to him and strokes him gently. He just needs to learn to trust again.

We believe that Cotton may have come from an abusive and or very noisy home as he cowers and will run away from a person if he doesn't know you. He also does not like it when there are a lot of people or dogs around. Basically any loud event. He will go and hide. Because of this we are not recommending him to a home with children under 16. Poor Cotton has given us the slip a few times when he gets scared and is hard to catch. He will jump a regular chain link fence so the family who adopts him will need a 6 ft fence.

UPDATE - July 8, 2008 From a LP volunteer. Cotton's name should be changed to 'Cuddle Bug.' He loves cuddling with a volunteer on the yard swing. Even better, he likes to be in your lap. He now craves attention from people, but is still shy with strangers. All he needs is a chance to get to know you, then he will love you forever. JUST A GREAT DOG!
