My Story

Cory is 6 years old in these photos taken June 20, 2009 at our partner shelter in Arkansas. His owner gave him and his brother, Opie, up because she doesn't have time for them. This is what she says about Cory: I got my little Corgi when he was 13 weeks old from a little girl who was selling her unregistered puppies. His favorite humans are children. Cory's face lights up when he sees them and he wants to play with them. He knows how to play fetch and especially loves to be petted. When it is time to eat, he tends to want to eat more than his share and is a little jealous of at food time with other dogs. No trouble with people and food. Cory is a dominate boy and will pick on shy dogs like his brother. He is the sweetest dog on earth though and is just the perfect dog. He is well behaved inside the house and with people. Whoever gets Cory is going to be extremely lucky and I know they will love him like I do.

Volunteers at the shelter have found him to be all that Cory's former owner said and more. He loves to cuddle and seems to warm up to new people pretty quickly. Cory walks well on the leash and rarely barks. He does play some with the other dogs. When Cory met the cat we tested him with, he just looked at him and walked away. Former owner says that cats would sleep with them outside. Rides well in the car too.

Cory tested negative for Heartworm and Lyme and has been on HW preventative. Tested positive for ehrlichiosis and was treated. He weighed 31.5 pounds when he went to the vet on 6/17

This dog is available unless it is marked as Pending, meaning "pending adoption".

If this Dog is marked Urgent, it is because the Arkansas shelter where he/she resides is overfull. Please do not ask local shelters to take this dog in, there are many reasons why they cannot. Please also do not send us letters about why we euthanize, AHR does not euthanize, but the shelters we work with do. We are a rescue and we pull as many dogs as we have foster homes and funds for. We, like the shelter, do not have unlimited resources. Please, please: foster, adopt or sponsor a dog to help save their lives.

. We pay a Transportation Service from Arkansas to bring the dogs to New England. The adoption fee is $300 for dogs up to 6 months of age, $250 for dogs 7 months-5 years, and $200 for dogs 5 years and older. This includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, and transport from Arkansas to Maine on a USDA approved transport with a Health Certificate. All dogs are quarantined 14 days prior to leaving Arkansas. All dogs will be tested for Heartworm prior to adoption. Almost Home Rescue will process your adoption.
