My Story

Copper is being virtually fostered by Palisades Veterinary Clinic. We thank Palisades Veterinary Clinic for giving Copper additional exposure so we can get him adopted right away! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail any questions to: [email protected] PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: Come meet adoptable dogs every Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM - 4 PM at our Adoption Center located at 11116 Fairfax Station Rd. Fairfax Station, VA 22039. We can also schedule time to meet a specific dog at the Adoption Center during the week by appointment - just fill out the application and we will follow up with you! LOCATION: Adoption Center ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Adoption Center ADOPTION FEE: $475 ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 50 lbs KNOWN WITH DOGS: Copper is good with other dogs but needs help regulating himself. He can hump if given the opportunity. KNOWN WITH CATS: We do not currently know how they are with cats. He has expressed a high level of prey drive while on walks so it might be best to put him a home without the kitties. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Copper did well with the newborn in the house. We think he will do well in a home with children. KNOWN COMMANDS: Sit, done, come, wait and kennel. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Fully housebroken and crate trained. KNOWN LIKES: Playing, treats and training! KNOWN DISLIKES: None yet! ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Meet Copper, the lovable canine companion with a heart as golden as his namesake hue. With an estimated weight of 50 lbs, Copper is the perfect blend of strength and affection, ready to steal the hearts of all who cross his path. In the realm of canine camaraderie, Copper is a social butterfly, displaying a friendly demeanor towards his fellow four-legged friends. However, he may need a little assistance in regulating his excitement, as he's been known to engage in humping behavior if given the opportunity. With proper guidance and training, Copper will learn to navigate social interactions with grace and ease. While his feelings towards cats remain unknown, Copper has exhibited a high level of prey drive while on walks, suggesting that a home without feline companions may be the best fit for him. When it comes to children, Copper has proven himself to be a gentle and patient soul, thriving in the presence of a newborn in his previous home. With his sweet nature and friendly disposition, we believe Copper would make an excellent addition to a family with children. In terms of training, Copper is already well-versed in basic commands such as sit, down, come, wait, and kennel. His eagerness to learn and please, coupled with his love for treats and playtime, make him a prime candidate for further training and bonding with his new family. Fully housebroken and crate trained, Copper is a model citizen both indoors and out, making him a breeze to care for in any household setting.
