Cooper

Cooper is an active, fun-loving 6 month old puppy. He is believed to be an English Pointer x and weighs 15 kg. He has been crate trained for both daytime and night time (he will go into his crate when told ‘Cooper – crate’). He enjoys playing with his ‘chuck a duck’ and various toys and bones. He will play fetch with his red felt bone, coming eagerly back to you. He understands the “come”, “sit” and “down” commands by visual cue and by spoken command and is working on “stay”. He heels very well, after an initial few corrections and eats only with the command “mash”. He can run like a greyhound when given a long lead, but is happy with a good 30 to 45 minute walk.

He does not bark unless he is left alone, is feeling unsure or is overly stimulated by play. He does not bark when other dogs in the area start barking or in response to walking by a barking dog. He will whimper when unsure or if he needs to go outside to pee. He is rather frightened by lawn mowers and vacuum cleaners and sometimes vehicles when on a walk.

He gets very excited around young children, but when corrected to sit and be gentle, he is very responsive. He is gentle with the elderly as well. He is a pointer when it comes to birds – he will stop and ‘point’. He has been housed with a cat and they play fight a lot, but neither have been injured and they both seem to enjoy the wrestling involved. He is still teething and enjoys chewing on his toys as well as any shoes you might leave at ground level. He is a loving, responsive dog who loves car rides, walks and belly rubs.
