My Story

*****We are Good Catch Dog Rescue. The dogs in our care are fostered by either ourselves or close friends. All of our dogs are vaccinated and on preventatives. Dogs older than 6 months are spayed or neutered. Our dogs live with us, not in boarding, and they are part of our family. Please visit our website to learn more about our family and our dogs. Goodcatchdogrescue.org***** Cooper is a 60-pound mix of 17 breeds. We find it difficult calling him any one of them as he's so diverse. He has the markings of a Shepherd, the ears of a Lab, the winter coat of a Husky, the herding instinct of a Cattle dog and the independence of a Catahoula. He has been an amazing companion in and around the home with his foster family and rides shotgun like an old best friend. Cooper believes that every good introduction to another dog starts with wrestling with and heeling them. He has found some great play pals in his foster dog family and has put off just as many. This handsome boy is not a match for a dog park. His current best friend is 12-year-old, Nayla (also available). She gives him back everything he has to offer. He also paired great with a young, energetic pup who has since been adopted who kept up with his play drive. Cooper loves a long walk. He loves a car ride, he's gentle with toys and has learned to chase balls but not return them. He enjoys the water, and we think if our dog pool was deeper, he'd enjoy a swim. He will bark at the cats and goats and keeps a steady eye on the cows in the adjacent field. For this reason, we can safely say that this fuzzy buddy is not compatible with other animals and should not go to a home with cats or chickens unless separated from his own yard. If you knew where he'd been and where he is now, you'd be quite impressed. Cooper was once a puppy who was adopted from the local humane society who his first owner tired of. They kept him outside 24/7 on a run where his human contact was limited. We don't believe he even knew his first name and so when he came into Good Catch, we had no problem renaming him. This boy will do best in a fenced in yard. He can (and will) climb a wire fence if he's bored or wants to be with you. He climbed the fence in his foster yard only to be with the rest of the dogs. The perimeter fence (also wire) has never tempted him, so we know that this is all so that he isn't alone. When we understand the why, it's easier to explain. Cooper is crate trained, house trained, fully vetted, microchipped and has been given a Proheart 12 shot for 12 months of heartworm prevention. His DNA results can be found on our website (Goodcatchdogrescue.org). He is ready for his family, to be loved, spoiled and appreciated as a dog was meant to be. Our adoption fee is $350.
