Welcome to Motley Zoo Animal Rescue. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization that is run entirely by volunteers. Motley Zoo does not have a brick and mortar shelter location. Instead, all our rescue animals are cared for in private foster homes where the animals receive one-on-one care and attention in a home environment until permanent placement is found. For more information, please visit www.motleyzoo.org. -----------------------------------------------------

• Breed: Chihuahua

• Crate Training: Columbo is crate trained.
• Other Dogs: Columbo is fine with sharing his home with likeminded, easygoing, low-key dogs.
• Cats: Columbo is being fostered with two cats and doesn’t pay them any mind.
• Children: Due to his delicate size, we are asking dog respectful children, 10 and older.
• Adoption Donation: TBD
Health: Colubmo has been spay/neutered, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and is current on vaccines. Most of Columbo’s teeth were pulled, leaving only 12 left, but all his remaining teeth sparkle! Columbo needs to be on a wet food diet. His tongue hangs out on one side due to his missing teeth and we find that to be adorable.
There was an old untreated injury to Columbo’s left eye, leaving him blind in that eye, but it does not hurt him and it doesn’t slow this little man down one bit! Columbo does have a partially collapsed trachea, so we ask that his adopter only uses halters on him, as to prevent tension on his throat. There is no surgery needed for this condition. Columbo also has a luxated patella on one of his back knees, but the vet did not suggest surgery for this condition either.
Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs. In addition, all pets adopted from Motley Zoo come with 30 days of free pet insurance provided by Shelter Care.
History: Columbo was brought into a local shelter as a stray, if you can believe it or not! The shelter called us and asked we place him in one of our loving foster homes so this little man would not have to suffer the shelter environment. He just recovered from a tough case of Kennel Cough and we gave him a dental and had to pull many of his teeth. He is feeling much better now and is ready for to find a home of his own!
Notes from Columbo’s Foster Home: Columbo is our little survivor. He has been through so much in his life and now he is just looking for a nice place to retire. He is a sweet boy who lives for a comfy lap, or a warm dog bed where he likes to dream of his younger years. Columbo loves meeting new people and gives a cute little wag of the tail whenever you look at him and smile. He is such a wonderful dog and his spirit is even more amazing, considering all he seems to have been through in life.
Motley Zoo Animal Rescue does not have a shelter location. All rescues are housed in private volunteer foster homes. Please email [email protected] and request an adoption application and we will work toward approving you as an adopter with our rescue so that we can set a time for you to meet!
Thank you for considering adopting a dog in need!
