My Story

NAME: Coco GENDER: Female AGE (Approx.): 4/27/2021 BEHAVIOUR DOGS: Good CATS: Unknown KIDS: Has been around kids TRAINING: Housebroken / Kennel Trained REQUIREMENTS: Fenced yard, indoor home only A BIT ABOUT ME Say hello to our beautiful Coco. Coco came into care in very rough shape. Due to a serious injury to her leg that went untreated, her leg had to be amputated to save her life. Coco also tested positive for heartworm and is currently being treated. Despite ALL the adversity she has faced in her young life, Coco has come a long way gaining confidence and learning to trust people and seek out attention and enjoy affection. She has adapted extremely well to her new normal and has no issues getting around. Coco is a medium to high-energy gal. As long as she gets her walk, she is a pretty happy camper. Coco is loving the warmer weather and is enjoying getting outside more. She’s happy exploring her hard on her own or follow her foster mom and her furry foster siblings around. She also enjoys chilling out on the deck and soaking up the sun. Coco is working on her leash manners and seems to forget that she only has three legs. She can pull a little at the start but once she gets the zoomies out, she walks well. Coco is also learning to keep all three on the floor but sometimes gets excited when she seems her favorite people and forgets. Coco can be nervous in new or unfamiliar places but with some patience and reassurance she comes around. She can be shy with new people too but as long as she has a familiar face to reassure her, she relaxes and adapts. Coco is kennel trained and is very good about settling in her kennel. She also has excellent house manners when left loose for short periods and at night. Coco is also a bit of a cuddle bug and although she prefers to sleep on her own dog bed, she will curl up beside her foster mom for some pre-sleep snuggling and is never too far away from her people. Coco is looking for a family that will be patient with her and allow time to gain her trust and build her confidence in her new surroundings. She is hoping for an active family with older, dog savvy kids, and would love a calm, confident canine companions.
