My Story

Meet Cleo! This super sweet and docile Bloodhound would love to finally find a home to call her own! After over a year in rescue, she has finally been deemed healthy enough to start the search for her forever home. Cleo would like a home where she is the only pet. But she does love all humans and including kids! She is VERY MELLOW and just wants a couch or sunny porch to lay on. As far as having your typical "Bloodhound Naughty Habits"... she truly has none! This girl is very very well behaved. She is even crate trained, potty trained, and leash trained, she also knows a few commands! Cleo still has a few “Kinks” to work out medically but they are very minor compared to where she started when we took her in! These medical issues are best if treated in a Home environment vs here in a kennel. Cleo and her 3 puppies suffered HORRIFIC neglect down in Texas before they were dumped at a “Holding pen” and only had a few days to make it out alive. They had mange, every parasite you can imagine, they were literally all just bones in skin, Cleo had two infected eyes, open wounds, infected ears, a bad upper respiratory infection, AND she was nursing puppies at the same time! Those are all of the medical issues she has been cured of, and she is now back to a very healthy weight, but….. she still needs a corrective surgery to fix her “cherry eye” and she needs to undergo heartworm treatment. Both of which do not currently bother her physically and are very easy to treat/resolve. We will pay for BOTH of these medical issues to be corrected with our vet in Holland Michigan once she is comfortably in a home. Both of these treatments require a calm and very clean environment for the best results, and unfortunately kennel life is just not that. When it comes to Heartworm treatment there is two ways we can do it…. Option 1: You would need to administer oral meds 2x a day for the first 30 days, and get her to 3 vet appointments at our vet in Holland, Michigan over the course of 90 days. That's it! After that she will be Heartworm Free! Option 2: If that first schedule sounds like too much, we do offer a version of heartworm treatment called “Slow-Kill”, that wouldn’t require traveling back to our vet, but it does take longer to treat this way and requires longer term medication. The Cherry eye can be quickly fixed during one surgery, and generally heals fast as well, we just don't want to risk infection here in kennel life with the incision being so close to her eye, so its best to do this after shes in a home! ***This Pets Adoption fee has been sponsored! Meaning there is no cost to adopt her from us AND we are taking care of ALL of her medical needs!*** To inquire about adopting this beautiful good girl, please email us, or follow the prompts through petfinder to fill out an application!
