Clara

This beautiful girl is sweet and gentle, but very shy. We are looking for a very special forever home for Clara. She will need patient folks who will take the time and love to help Clara blossom. Clara was from a puppy mill and was used for breeding. We named her Clara because she's never had a name of her own, nor a family or a real home. She has been kept in a barn her entire life - all 4 years! Clara has had some exposure to living with parameters of a home. She is 95% house trained and her foster mom says very soon we will be able to make that 100% as she hasn’t had any accidents in quite a while. She knows what a bed is as she likes to jump up and snuggle with her foster mom on weekend mornings. She knows how to climb stairs and knows how to walk on leash. At first she was a little skittish when we went for walks because of the cars going by but she has now adjusted to that. This took no longer than a couple weeks. She started by walking behind her foster mom, but now prances at her side. Clara’s social skills have been impaired from lack of experience and exposure to everyday life situations. But she is a quick study. She gets along great other dogs - in fact we would love it if her forever home had another dog. She is already learning to trust her foster family. She will come right over for some love and interaction. At times she gets so excited she practically dances over when she comes to see her foster mom. Because she still sometimes reacts to loud sounds, new stimuli, a fenced in yard is a must - she could not be trusted off leash in an unfenced/unsecured area.
