My Story

Chuckles is a 13 lb Pomeranian mix. While he's adorable, with a prance in his step and his adorable fluffy coat - he is a lot of dog in a small package. Precocious, charismatic, pushy, and assertive, he's not for a first-time dog owner. Chuckle is super friendly and seeks attention from humans. He loves everyone he meets and can light up a room. Chuckles is a dog that was raised with no structure or boundaries and was not socialized with other dogs. His biggest area needing improvement is in the sharing department. Once Chuckles decides something is his, he is very determined to keep it that way- both with people and other dogs. Due to this Chuckles needs a home without children or other animals. Outside the home, Chuckles does seem to enjoy the company of certain dogs, but there can not be any high-value resources (treats or toys) around. He is actually very playful with the right dog friend, but his interactions with other dogs need to be closely monitored. While this may sound like a lot, Chuckles is actually incredibly smart, highly trainable, and eager to please. His leash walking skills have improved greatly and with an experienced handler he is no longer reactive on leash. He responds very well to corrections as well as rewards for desired behaviors. He also is AMAZING at agility, loving to jump, and fearless on the teeter-totter. If you are an experienced foster or adopter looking for a project dog with a ton of potential Chuckles might be the guy for you! Chuckles's adoptions are by appointment only and require an approved application on file to adopt. Please submit an application through our website and a Milo representative will be in contact to discuss next steps. Notes from foster - 7/2024 Hello! We are currently fostering Chucky. He lives here with my two small dogs. * Loving with people and loves being held * Walks well on a leash and enjoys walks/hikes * Very energetic and enjoys running around and playing with his toys * He does know to play quietly with his toys or naps when I am working. He rarely barks in the house. * This is a quiet and calm household which helps calm him down a bit * He came here on the first day wanting to rough play with my dogs. After I and they let him know that was not ok, he no longer tries to jump on them and they have settled into a truce * He rides well in the car and sits next to my dog, Toby, with no issues * He will bark at some dogs on our walks. We correct him and with continued exposure to other dogs, this type of barking will hopefully minimize * Knows how to sit and shake for treats * I have taken his toys away when it was time to stop playing and he was fine with me * He does well when given firm and consistent Instructions * Crate trained to sleep in a crate at night * He would probably do best not being left alone for too long. He is ok in a x-pen/crate for a few hours during the day
