Hi my name is Chips, and I’m about a year old. As a pup I was bought from a breeder, but at a very young age my family decided that I was to much work and play for them so they took me to the local shelter. Though everyone loved me there and treated me very well I was having trouble finding my forever home. The nice people at the shelter posted me on petfinder, and that’s when Catahoula Rescue found me. The shelter loved me so much that one of the workers named Jennifer actually drove five and a half hours to meet my new foster mom in the middle of Ohio. After a long day in the car, which I LOVED, I arrived home in Western NY. I now spend my days playing with my best friend Wilson (yes Wilson is a volleyball) in the back yard… we’d play fetch for hours if we could. I take food nicely from people’s hands, and love to learn… if there are treats involved. I sit, shake, lay down, and I’m working on stay. I walk nicely on a leash some of the time, but sometimes I forget there is someone attached to the other end, my foster mom calls it a work in progress. I love other dogs, and new people. And I’m not much of a barker, when someone knocks on the door I go to it and wag my tail. I live with a kitty, sometimes I’ll chase if he runs, but never to hurt him only to play. Though the kitty does put me in my place, and we get along well enough to share the couch with my foster mom in the evenings. I haven’t been tested with small children, but there is a special needs boy who lives right behind me. If he’s out in his yard I’ll go to the fence and let him pet me, I love it when he tosses the ball for me. I have adjusted quite well to living in a house again… and am known to love a good nap on the couch, or in a sunny patch on the floor. When mom leaves I have to go in my crate, I don’t love it, but I go in without a fuss, especially if there is a frozen treat in it for me. I ask to go out whenever I need to. I recently got my first boat ride and LOVED it. The water is too chilly to go swimming yet so we just floated around the lake. Did I mention I love a good barbeque? Though I love my foster home, and am well loved here I need to find my forever home so my Mom can help another pup in need. I’d love a home with a yard to run, and a doggie friend to play with. If I’m to live with a kitty it will need to be one who knows how to show me who’s boss. And if I live with kids they should be older, there is not a aggressive bone in my body, but in play I may knock a smaller child down. AND I LOVE TO GO BOATING Would you like to be my forever home?
