Chico

Meet Chico, a VERY sweet, special, and gorgeous little chocolatey brindle guy! Chico was left tied up outside of a vacant house for a very long period of time. His former family (if you can call them that!) would occasionally dump off a bowl of food, but for the most part he was on his own, and unable to even roam around to find food or shelter. Thankfully the local community learned about him and took action to get him removed from his terrible situation. He was taken to a shelter, and pretty quickly found himself on the euthanasia list, as so many dogs do when there is no more space. But the people who had helped rescue him from his terrible life were there again! We were notified by a wonderful foster who was willing to take him in if we could pull him, so we did! And boy are we glad, because this little snuggle bug has turned out to be SUCH a great dog, even with all he's been through! He is so loving, and has excellent odds of being his new family's velcro dog! He just wants to be with his people, and he does great with other dogs, too! Likely due to the poor nutrition and trauma he suffered in the past, Chico has developed cataracts at only 4 years old. This does not slow him down in any way, and he does have vision but it does seem impaired somewhat. He will be having a consult with a specialist to see if surgery is something we should consider. Whether or not his sight can be improved, Chico is a wonderful, affectionate, and adorable boy who is longing for his very own family - a REAL family who will love and care for him forever!
