Chewy was brought to us after his owner passed away. We imagine it must have been a scary change for Chewy going from a home to the shelter environment, and he did seem uncomfortable with some staff members at first, but has opened up and shown himself to be a friendly and playful dog! He can be prone to getting over excited and having a hard time settling down, but he may do better out of the shelter in a home where he's able to get more of his mental and physical energy out. Chewy recently attended Animal Friends' Dog Jog and ran the whole way, so if you are looking for a new running/jogging buddy this could be your pup! Chewy is a huge treat lover and has to be reminded to take them gently. He also seems to really enjoy playing with toys and will bring them back for a game of fetch! Chewy has had a lot of fun playing in the shelter's doggie playgroups- he has a rough and rowdy play style and would do best with a dog who can match that energy level! Chewy hopes a family will choose him soon! Thanks to a generous donor $25 of Chewy's adoption fee has been sponsored, making his adoption fee $70 including his dog license and all vetting. Chewy is current on shots, licensed, and microchipped. All dogs over 6 months have been heartworm tested, and all dogs are treated monthly for fleas/ticks and are on Heartworm prevention (NexGard PLUS). All pets are spayed/neutered prior to a finalized adoption. All our dogs receive a behavior assessment before being placed for adoption to determine initial behaviors towards people and other dogs in the shelter environment.
