Checkers is a sweet, adorable Border Collie/Australian Cattle Dog mix, who is about 3 years old and weighs 34 pounds so is a nice medium size.
He is black and white with lots of tiny black speckles, with a soft, short coat that is lovely to pet. Checkers loves people but is a little shy at first and needs a little time to warm up and feel safe with new people. When you win him over he is all yours, sweetness and playful, and ready to give you kisses, roll over for a tummy rub, or come up onto your lap or into your arms.
Checkers endears himself to you immediately with the sweet, soulful look in his eyes and you can immediately tell he has a loving heart. Checkers is very good with quiet dog-loving school-aged children. He would be very shy around rambunctious kids.
Checkers is friendly with other dogs and doesn't even notice cats. He walks gently and beautifully on his leash and will need only a little polishing to make a very well leash trained dog. Checkers needs only the mildest correction, and cowers if you speak harshly to him. He needs a gentle, loving family who will appreciate that he is a quiet, affectionate, loyal boy with so much to give to his people. This is one very special boy!
