Charlie is a 1 year-old Australian Shepherd mix. He is very active and loves to go for walks, play ball, and be around people. Charlie is super sweet, he does not bite or growl and seldom barks. He sleeps indoors at night and rarely has a potty accident. Since members of his breed are “herders,” Charlie needs a place with a backyard (or acreage) where he can run and play and a family that can give him the time, attention, and love that he needs and deserves. He is neutered, and all shots are up to date (vet records are available for your review).
We desire for him to be placed with active owners, of any age, who like to run, hike, or will otherwise spend time with Charlie daily. Would love for Charlie to have a large yard or farm where he can run and play (rather than being indoors or in a crate or pen). Another dog to play with during the day would be a huge bonus.
Charlie loves to be with other pets and people. He is sweet-natured and does not bite or growl at anyone. He has a lot of energy, and likes to fetch balls and sticks, to go on walks and runs, and to have his belly rubbed. Charlie likes to play with balls, and will run and jump for them. When he's tired, he'll curl up at your feet (or in your lap if you sit on the ground) to be stroked.
Charlie is an independent rescue supported by DogsOnly, so she will not be available to meet every Saturday except for holiday weekends at the DogsOnly adoption showing at Petco on Chenal Parkway across from Target and Home Depot.
You can contact learn more about Charlie by contacting his rescuers directly at 501 352 0549 or find out about the adoption process by sending an email to
[email protected]. You are encouraged to submit an online adoption application by clicking the orange colored links at the top or bottom of Charlie’s official bio page located at www.dogsonly.org/568pop.html. Your adoption application will be forwarded to Charlie’s fosters who will contact you directly.
We always try and answer all emails within 24 hours. All of our young and adult dogs require a 2 week home visit before finalizing the adoption process. This is to help ensure it is a good match for all involved without making a final commitment. Puppies are not available to go on home visits. All of our rescues are in private homes and not available to be visited outside of showing times.
All DogsOnly volunteer fosters work with our rescues to ensure they are crate trained and most are also housetrained. Only one of the DogsOnly foster families have cats so we can only make our best guess as to how our rescues would do with cats. We rescue from high kill shelters and once accepted into our Independent, none of our rescues are euthanized. We provide for all their vet care, socialization and training until an appropriate home can be found.
An adoption fee is usually involved which helps to cover the cost of medical care and vaccinations.
DogsOnly relies solely on donations and are a 501(c)3 private Humane Society. Our mission is to rescue dogs that most other groups are not interested in due to their size, breed, age, health or other various reasons. This does not mean that there is something wrong with any of our rescued companions, it just means we help the ones others tend to leave behind.
Thank you for your interest in rescue and in saving the life of a dog. Every day in the United States, 11,000 dogs die.
