Meet Charlie, one of the four adorable babies from Mama Sage’s litter. This sweet family came to us under heartbreaking circumstances, found abandoned in a cardboard box in the Ruhl Fresno area. Mama Sage, a wonderful and nurturing Jack Russell and likely Maltese mix, even took in an extra puppy whose mother had passed away. Mama weighs about 16 pounds, and we expect Charlie and his siblings to grow up to be between 15 and 25 pounds. Charlie and his siblings are a delightful mix, and as they grow, they'll likely develop more scruff or fluff, making them even more charming. Jack Russells are typically very smart dogs who need proper training and mental stimulation to avoid getting into trouble. They are active dogs who are medium-sized and may be mixed with non-shedding breeds, but Charlie is truly just a baby and represents a huge commitment. Families considering adopting Charlie need to understand that he is an infant and requires a flexible schedule. Ideally, his new home will not leave him alone for more than a few hours at a time and will have a second dog to help teach him the ropes. Committing to formal training and ongoing socialization is essential for his development. Charlie and his siblings won’t be ready to join the general public until October, after they have completed their vaccinations. They had a rough start in life, but that’s all behind them now. They need families who understand that dog ownership is a lifelong commitment—small dogs like Charlie can live up to 16 years. These puppies have no formal training yet, so their new families must be dedicated to teaching them everything they need to know. With the right home, Charlie will grow up to be a loyal, loving, and delightful companion.
