My Story

Physical Description: Springer Spaniel Cross White with Brown spots, approx 7 years old, mid-size 60lbs (overweight), one brown eye, one blue eye. Temperament and Demeanor: Incredibly friendly dog, non aggressive. Will bark at strangers. Great family dog, Excellent with children. Excellent with small dogs, and cats (though she will try and play with cats even though they don't want to play with her.) She is a relaxed easy going dog. Is playful but not hyperactive. Not destructive against furniture or clothing, though she may steal a sock and chew on it. May get into garbage if left alone with it. Will pick up nearest object and run around with it when you first get home, but does not chew it. It's kind of a greeting thing she does, and its usually a shoe. Training: Knows her basic commands (sit, stay, wait, down, come), will sing with you if you howl. She does well on lead, first five minutes or so on lead she is a little excited, but this may be due to infrequency of walks. She will not wander too far if off lead. Health and care: Receives annual veterinary care (have records available), has been spayed. In fine health except for being a little overweight. Consistent diet of Nutro-Max lamb and rice. Only Concerns: It is important to note that she is a pound dog that we rescued, thus has had some level of impact on her behaviour. We worked very hard to alleviate most of them. Only the following remains a concern: 1) Aggression towards larger dogs. It's hit and miss on this, we have not narrowed down what causes her to get upset around large dogs. 50/50 chance she will like them or not. 2) Protects her dish from other dogs. Is fine with humans/cats and her food, Alex, the cat, consistently "helps" her eat, she has no problem with this. If she gets on well with the dog, and it is smaller than her, she is typically okay with them near her food dish.
