To only be 4-5 months old, little Cashew has been through quite a bit. She was found as a stray inside the fence of one of our previous adopters. We do believe she was actually placed there as there was really no other way for her to get in. She was very afraid and tiny. For about 1 week the only response you got from her when you gave her any attention was a low growl and she would show her teeth. Once she started to trust her foster mom, she became the sweetest puppy and is by her side constantly. We have been expanding her horizons and introducing her to new people on almost a weekly basis and so far she has liked everyone she meets and her apprehension is lasting shorter and shorter time spans. She has even learned how to jump her little 4 pound body onto the bed where she sleeps at night. Because it does take her a minute to begin to trust people, we do not want to place her in an extremely active home or in a home with small children. She would love to be doted on by someone who is looking for a loving companion pet. As you can see, she does do fine with other dogs of any size and is actually smaller than a cat so we doubt she would pose a very large threat to any kitties. If you are patient and can give her the time and space to get to know you and you feel she may be a great fit for your family, email [email protected] to get an application.
