My Story

11/7/08 - Casey was returned to rescue due to his family splitting up. Casey - Male, 3-4 years (we got from rescue and they did not know much about him as he was found in bad shape in southwest VA), neutered. Casey is a fantastic dog. He is well behaved. His favor past time is catching frisbees (he is very good at it). He did not have much hair when we got him about 8 months ago, but now his coat has grown in fully and he has feathers. He is calm, good indoors, but prefers outside in good weather. Can be easily bathed and goomed Unfortunately Casey is capable to jumping a 4ft fence. We ended up having to put him on a long lead and installed an eFence inside our picket fince to make sure he would not get out. I assume this is how he got lost the first time as from his behavior I think he was a well cared for dog. He seemed to know most commands before we got him. He is crate trained and is great with small children. Good health. Dark red average size. Casey will be in PA, in a foster home an hour South of Philadelphia as of 1/19/08. Casey is a 2-3 year old, neutered, male, Irish Setter. Casey came to us very thin and with a lot of hair loss, but he's picking up weight and growing a new coat of beautiful red hair. Casey's main goal in life seems to be chasing a ball and he will do it for hours. Unlike most dogs, Casey will actually return the ball and drop it at your feet so you can throw it again. Casey came from a rural shelter in SW Virginia, so we don't really know anything about his past, but he's good with other dogs and is fascinated by anything that moves and especially by anything that flies. Casey will use a crate, and we don't know that he's housetrained, so a new owner should be prepared to take that on. Casey will need a fenced yard and an active home; this dog is not a couch potato, although someday he might like to be. An application, vet reference, home visit and a drive to PA a must to meet our dogs! Adoption fee required. To find out more about the Irish Setter breed, click here.
