My Story

Compassionate Placement This girl presented one of the saddest cases we have ever seen. Carrie is a TERRIER MIX of 7 years old, salt and pepper colouring. A PUPPY MILL BREEDING FEMALE, this poor girl could not walk when we first got her. She had been kept a prisoner in her cage in the puppy mill, the only time she was taken out of it was to be bred. Her legs had lost their muscle, especially the back legs. When we took her, she could hardly stand up. She was so scared, that she didn’t move much,-- she did not want to be noticed, that was her only defence, to make herself invisible. She had the dearest wee face, and a look to it that would break anyone’s heart—still HOPE shone from her eyes, she had not given up on people, but was so afraid to trust. So she did nothing. We had her rotted teeth removed—12 in all—now she can eat without pain anymore! We had her spayed so that never again would she be forced to have puppies for sale at every heat. As a result, she brightened up and started walking then jumping, til she had recovered the muscles in her legs! She still needs more work on her housetraining, but it is understandable, and with time and guidance that should be accomplished. She weighs about 19 pounds—she has put on good weight sorely needed. Carrie has a sweet nature and will repay an adopter many times over in love and devotion for a secure and caring forever home.
