Picture, if you will, a late night photo shoot for the Chorines, a litter of six female puppies: Their tired foster is coaxing cranky puppies into cute poses and trying to otherwise shoot these dogs to their best advantage. Finally, the sixth and final puppy's turn arrives: She preens, poses and otherwise hams it up, lolling on the brightly colored background, cuddling props, etc. A star is born, and not a subtle one, at that. What else could we name this over-the-top character with a love of the colorful but Carmen Miranda? In Carmen, we find the clownishness of the beagle and the star quality of the cocker in equal proportion.
